Exciting new January book releases

These are some of the new books coming out this month that I am most excited to read...

Most hotly anticipated

Goodreads
Splintered by A.G Howard
Why I'm looking forward to reading it:
Because it's a re-telling of the story of Alice in Wonderland with a darker twist, and from the early reviews so far- it sounds amazing!
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

Also released this January-
(Note: these are the UK covers and release dates)

  • Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi (Under the Never Sky, book 2).
  • Undone by Cat Clarke.
  • Vortex by Julie Cross (Tempest, book 2).

  • The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna. This was already published in America last year, and has gotten some amazing reviews.
  • Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff.
  • Shadows in the Silence by Courtney Allison Moulton (Angelfire, book 3).

  • Broken by A.C Rought. New release from new imprint Strange Chemistry publishers who have been consistently good so far.
  • Crash by Lisa McMann.
  • Easy by Tammara Webber. This has been a self-publishing phenomenon, now picked up by publishers- I have read so many 5 star reviews of this already.

  • The Essence by Kimberly Derting (Pledge, book 2)
  • Just One Day by Gayle Forman.
  • The Prey by Andrew Fukuda (The Hunt, book 2)

  • Night School Legacy by C.J Daugherty (Night School, book 2)
  • The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines. Another self published phenomenon, which is being published in the UK in paperback for the first time. So looking forward to this, it sounds great.
  • Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans.

  • Boundless by Cynthia Hand (Unearthly, book 3). Annoyingly, the UK publisher has decided not to pick up book 3 of this series- so this is the US hardback edition.
  • Prodigy by Marie Lu (Legend, book 2)
  • Shadows by Paula Weston

Any of these that you're also excited to read? Any books that I've missed off this list that you are looking forward to this January?
