Married With Zombies scavenger hunt readalong week 2

This is week 2 of the Married With Zombies scavenger hunt readalong. Today's questions are hosted by Ashley at the Bookish Brunette .

Chapers 6-10

1.In Chapter 6, Sarah and Dave raid Amanda’s apartment for guns… When they come out they run into their super, Mr. Gonzales, when he tries to attract Sarah: What does she hit? Do you have one of these? You could totally bash some Zombie brains with one!Show me whatcha got! If you don’t have one of these, then anything that you would find in a hallway of an apartment building! (good luck!) lol

She hits a fire extinguisher. I don't have one of those. Something in a building hallway- I need something more substantial than doormats or lightbulbs. How about this?! I could bash in some zombie brains!

"Die zombie, die!"

2. In Chapter 7, Sarah and David are watching a news report of the zombie attacks when the doctor on TV attacks the reporter… The news crew steps in and starts bashing the zombie with a _______, grab the nearest similar object (whatever’s handy) that you would use if you were attacked at WORK!

I work in a library. I would push over one of the heavy shelves of books on top of it and flee!

3. Chapter 8… Amanda, Sarah and Dave are preparing to head out of town, and while they’re getting in the car, three zombies attack them! Sarah bashes one with the butt of her shot gun as instinct takes over, so whatcha got?
You’re getting in your car, fleeing the city- zombies attack, no guns or knives… What are you going to use to defend yourself??

I have to run through my garden to get to my car- which means... lawn furniture! Bashy bashy!

[I was going to take a picture of me wielding the chair, but my neighbours were in their garden too, and it's so much easier to act like you're photographing for ebay or something than to explain "I'm just, you know... fending off zombies..."]

4. In Chapter 9 & 10 there aren’t any zombie killings… That we could replicate!!!
So, give me a couple of your favorite quotes from Chapters 5-10!!!

"Okay Amanda, let me give you the crib notes," I said with a sigh. "Some time earlier today something bad happened at U-Dub. Really bad. It turned a bunch of people into zombies."
"Like, movie zombies?" She asked, blinking at me with empty disbelief.
"Exactly... Well, we think so anyway. So far they seem to work the same way. Our marriage counsellor tried to eat us, and we killed her by bashing her head in. That's pretty much just like the movies right?"
"Oh my God". Amanda said, reaching out to pat my arm awkwardly. "Marriage Counselling? Are you guys okay?"
Amanda, focusing on what's important. P46

"This is going to be really dangerous, isn't it?" I asked, my voice soft in the dark.
He didn't answer for a long time, but finally he nodded slowly.
"We might die" I continued.
He nodded again, his gaze never leaving my face.
I reached up and cupped the back of his head and drew him down toward me.
"Well, I guess we better go out with a bang."
He smiled, before he dropped his mouth to mine and kissed me.
P76

He stared at the rows of cigarettes and to my surprise he started pulling boxes off the walls.
"Um, are we taking up smoking?" I asked as I shovelled armfuls of beef jerky and chips into my bags. "I thought you were so against it, I mean the shit you gave me when I was trying to quit last year..."
He arched a brow. "They might be worth something to trade later."
I stared at him. "David, that's prison movies, not zombie movies."
P100

I also love all the chapter headings. Practical marriage advice along with useful zombie slaying tips!

  1. I'm sure the cigarettes would come in handy somehow. I found myself totally trying to checkout the books on your shelves. You can't hurt the books!!!! Surely you have an antique card catalog somewhere. I think you should totally freak out your neighbors. You know, give them something to talk about over dinner. Or maybe keep them from bugging you.

  2. I knew an ironing board would be good for SOMETHING! LOL Oh and those shelves would be so heavy! Great choice. I also hate to say it, but I would probably take the pic with me wielding the chair to freak out the neighbor! LOL

Oh love the quotes! We picked the same one about going out with a bang. LOL I also loved the ciggie one. Prision... zombies... what's the diff? :D

  7. Could you imagine the damage you could do with an ironing board? Plus you wouldn't have to get anywhere near them to do it. You could take them out with a leg alone! Good CHOICE!

  8. Your number three answer had me laughing so hard. I kept trying to take pictures on my patio and people kept staring at me as they drove by. It's much easier to say your taking pictures for ebay rather than defending the zombies. LMAO! And seriously, that library book shelf would be so heavy! Ug! And the ironing board was a genius idea! It's long and the swing behind it would bash some heads in!

Those quotes are classic. I love the one liners in the book. The chapter headings are my favorite though. LOL!

  9. LMAO! Yeah, like Jen up there, I couldn't help but laugh just imagining your neighbors watching you with one raised eyebrow. Oh, if only we could get everyone to live in fiction with us, right?!

Awesome pictures. I think you are on to something with the ironing board. I should get one of those, but since I never iron...

  10. Even though I love books and teeny tiny part of me would cringe, I totally want to push a bookshelf over on someday! It's such a movie classic move! Lol.
