In My Mailbox 1st January 2012

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren, where book bloggers can talk about the books they've gotten the past week- whether bought, borrowed, swapped or given for review. This feature was started to increase interaction between bloggers and to increase our awareness of all the new books coming out.
I love visiting all the other blogs and finding plenty of new books to pine after!
Happy New Year everybody!
I didn't do an IMM last week because I was busy eating, arguing with relatives, and unwrapping things! So this IMM post is an accumulation of 2 weeks worth of books. Oh boy, did I get a lot of books! I got-

Bought:

  • Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake. This is a book that I initially wasn't sure about when I first saw it, but I have seen so many bloggers love it that I want to jump on the bandwagon. I just love the tagline too- "Just your average boy meets girl, girl kills people story...".
How cool is this cover?

  • Dash and Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. This looked like a really fun christmassy book that I just had to read at this time of year. I read it already and yes it is! Review coming soon...

From the Library:

  • Crossed by Ally Condie. This is the sequel to the awesome YA dystopian novel Matched. I am so pleased to finally get hold of a copy of this.
Audiobooks:

  • Shade by Jeri Smith Ready. Book 1 in an awesome looking series about people with powers.
  • Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. I'm so curious about this one. I've read mixed reviews, but I personally really liked the Shiver series by this author.
  • The Pledge by Kimberley Derting. I sooooo badly want to read this! It's a dystopian novel written by the author of the incredible Body Finder series.

For Review:

  • Fracture by Megan Miranda. Love the sound of this book- spooky and cool.
  • Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey. I love the Drake Chronicles by this author (a vampire series), this is a new series about a girl who is abducted by faeries. This sounds like an excellent read as well.
Thanks to Bloomsbury Publishers and Netgalley for the advance E-copies of these books.

and finally...
Christmas Gifts:

  • Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I'm really excited to read this one- looks excellent.
  • Once Every Never by Lesley Livingstone.
  • Tempestuous by Lesley Livingstone. Book 3 in the Wondrous Strange series about faeries in New York.
  • In the Forests of the Night by Kersten Hamilton. Book 2 in the Goblin Wars series (I still haven't read Book 1 yet but I've heard so many positive things about it, I think I'll like it)
  • Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross. I'm looking forward to reading this steampunk novel. I'm so thrilled to get it for christmas- I've had real trouble getting hold of it.
  • Shadow Hills by Anastacia Hopcus. Creepy looking. I wasn't interested at all in this book until they changed the cover. Something about this cover with the eye on it made me go "Oooooh!"
  • Fighting to Survive by Rhiannon Frater. Book 2 in a series about a zombie apocalypse. I haven't read book 1 yet, but all the reviews I've seen are 5 star, and this looks really cool.
  • Inheritance by Christopher Paolini. Could this book be any bigger?! This is Book 4 in the fantasy series which started with Eragon. An epic fantasy with magic and dragons.

I got thoroughly spoiled for christmas- better get reading them all! Those were all the books that came into my house this past fortnight. What did you get in your mailbox?
Happy reading!

Quick note: the 4th of January is my one year blogoversary, so pop back here on Wednesday for my blogoversary giveaway, where you can be in with a chance to win one of a selection of my favourite books of 2011.
