Best of the Bunch January 2014

Apologies for the late posting- I have had no internet connection all week!

Well, I have had a busy month this January despite there not being any evidence of it on the blog!

I am house-hunting, and helping plan my sister's wedding, and I have also been to Paris for a weekend-

Aside from that it has been extra busy at work and I am shattered!

I have still been reading well though, and this has been my January in books-

January 2014

  • Tempest Unleashed by Tracy Deebs -3 of 5 stars
  • Tempest Revealed by Tracy Deebs - 3 of 5 stars

And the winner of Best of the Bunch January 2014 is...

...dramatic pause...

... My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick!

My Life Next Door  by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Goodreads

"One thing my mother never knew, and would disapprove of most of all, was that I watched the Garretts. All the time."

The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything.

As the two fall fiercely for each other, stumbling through the awkwardness and awesomeness of first love, Jase's family embraces Samantha - even as she keeps him a secret from her own. Then something unthinkable happens, and the bottom drops out of Samantha's world. She's suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

A transporting debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another.

I actually read this book on the recommendation of a fellow blogger who had it as her Best of the Bunch pick last month. I pestered the library to buy a copy of the book, read it and loved it. It's romantic, has a great plot, excellent characters and is really well-written.

That was my Best of the Bunch pick for this month. What has your month been like?
Let me know- link up below!
Thanks!

  1. I read My Life Next Door this month too. It was my first read of the year and, although I really enjoyed the books I read, I think it was the best one I read this month as well.

  3. I'm glad you loved My Life Next Door! This was my Best of the Bunch in November, so I'll bet it was my blog you saw it on - isn't it a great feeling when you spread the word on an amazing book!? :-)

Love that picture of you and the "miniature" Louvre!
