Best of the Bunch May 2014

Best of the Bunch is a book blog hop hosted here on the last day of each month, where we can look back over the books we have read over this past month and give a Best of the Bunch award to our favourite book of that month.

I always put up my post on the last day of the month, but remember, you can add your link in anytime in the following month.

May 2014

This month I have read-

Only 5 books this month- I have been struggling through the epic 10 inch thick Dreams of Gods and Monsters and still haven't finished it yet.

  • Struck by Jennifer Bosworth - 3 of 5 stars
  • Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me, book 3) - 5 of 5 stars
  • The Girl With The Windup Heart by Kady Cross (Steampunk Chronicles, book 4) - 4 of 5 stars
  • Raging Star by Moira Young (Dustlands, book 3) - 4.5 of 5 stars
  • A Whisper in Time by Elizabeth Langston (Whisper Falls, book 2) - 3.5 of 5 stars
And the winner of Best of the Bunch May 2014 is...

...drumroll...

...Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi!

He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.

What an ending to a roller coaster ride of a series! I loved the beautiful writing, the thrilling action, the romance, the quirkiness of the characters, the whole world of the story. This book is amazing- just heart- rending and powerful and memorable. I have a full review of this book coming soon, but I love the transformation of Juliette as a character, and well... everything about this book! An easy 5 stars.

That was my pick for this month- but who gets your bananas?

Exciting New May Releases

These are some of the books releasing this May that I am most looking forward to reading...

Most hotly anticipated

Raging Star by Moira Young (Dustlands series, book 3) Goodreads

I went out to Waterstones to buy this the day it was released! This series is thrilling, dark, and heart-wrenching, and I'm both excited and fearful to see how it all ends for Saba, Lugh, Jack and the gang.

Also released this month

  • City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (Mortal Instruments, book 6). The next installment in Cassandra Clare's fantastic series.
  • The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa (Blood of Eden, book 3). I absolutely love this vampire series, and can't wait to read this one.
  • Take Me On by Katie McGarry (Pushing The Limits, book 4). This is another of my all-time favourite series. Katie McGarry always manages to rip my heart out with every one of her books.

  • The Girl With The Windup Heart by Kady Cross (Steampunk Chronicles, book 4). This series is so cute!
  • Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira. Sounds interesting!
  • Renegade by Debra Driza (Mila 2.0, book 2).

  • Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly. I love this author's other books- A Gathering Light, and Revolution, so that is why I can't wait to read this new book by this author.
  • Savage Drift by Emmy Laybourne (Monument 14, book 3).
  • We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.
  • Sleep No More by Aprilynne Pike. Described as a "dark new thriller", and a definite break from her previous fairy series.
  • Ciao For Now, Crazy European Chick by Joe Schreiber (Perry and Gobi, book 2) This book is titled Perry's Killer Playlist in the US and other parts of the world. The first book had me absolutely snorting with laughter.

Imports-

  • After the End by Amy Plum. This new apocalyptic novel sounds great- there is currently no UK release date.
  • The Dark World by Cara Lynn Shultz. I like her other series. No UK publication date yet.
  • Divided by Elsie Chapman (Dualed, book 2)

  • Of Neptune by Anna Banks (Of Poseidon, book 3)
  • Project Paper Doll: The Rules by Stacey Kade. This had been high on wishlist since it released in Hardback last year. Now it is being released in paperback it is more affordable, so maybe...
  • Scan by Sarah Fine and Walter Jury.

It looks like a great month books! Are there any here you are most looking forward to? Any I've missed off this list?
